Why the name and logo of the candies Fisherman's Friend

It all started in 1865, in a town called Fleetwood, where the local fishermen, to combat the conditions and difficulties of long fishing trips, carried an extremely strong liquid containing menthol and eucalyptus, which helped them with coughs, colds and other problems.

To facilitate its transport, the pharmacist James Lofthouse transformed this liquid into small pills, which automatically became the favorites of the fishermen. It was these first consumers who ended up giving it this name that still stands today: Fisherman's Friend (Friend of the Fisherman).
